Background

I am a post-doctoral research assistant for the EPIC (Evidence-based Practices Informing Computing) project, after successful completion, submission and defence of my PhD thesis in the Computing Department at The Open University. My PhD research was funded by a three-year research studentship from The Open University. I received my BSc from Fudan University in 1991 and MSc from the University of York in 2004. I had gained more than 10 years of industry work experience before entering academia in the University of Liverpool in 2001.

My current main research interest is evidence-based software engineering, with a focus on investigating the role SLR (Systematic Literature Review) plays in software engineering. My previous research topic (PhD) was about problem-oriented software engineering, with a focus on foundational/transformational approaches to requirements engineering. My MSc research was about web interfaces that allow users to prescribe differential levels of QoS (Quality of Service). I am a professional member of the ACM, affiliate member of IEEE (i.e., IEEE Computer Society) and was a student member of BCS Requirements Engineering Specialist Group. I helped the teaching of a course module by providing a guest presentation on evaluating an IEEE jounal paper using preliminary guidelines for empirical research in software engineering.

Research Interests

I belong to theSoftware Engineering Research Group, School of Computing and Mathematics.
